I've been so busy with so many things that I took my own spring break. It's good to be back in my routine.

I don't think I've ever painted 50 paintings in a year, much less 4 months.

My life has been chaos. Spring is a busy time here with the gardens. I also substituted for a friend this week and had to prepare for 2 art history courses. Then there was the day spent on campus to teach. I'm not complaining. It rained all day and the grass is turning an intense, drunken, spring green.

I'm learning quite a bit from the smaller paintings and have been putting it to use in the larger works. This is much larger than my daily paintings. The building up of layers is much more important in the larger works. It's a little like an excavation.

I am really liking the warm weather, even though the cold will return. I sat my chair out on the edge of the creek and painted. Life should always be so perfect.

status report

I've been very busy with the gallery this week - preparing my space, framing, etc...
Today I'm headed into town to hang everything. So, hopefully by tomorrow, I'll be back in the studio doing what I should be doing.

Happy New Year!

Today is a holiday. I thought I'd post an older painting. It's a portrait of The Monkey done in 2007. It's time to do a new one.
